Ellen has been training and competing in Nosework since 2013. She began with her Jack Russel terrier, Dash, when he was 11 years old and titled in NACSW's Nosework 1, Nosework 2, and Nosework 3. Since 2015, she has also trained and titled with her Miniature Poodle and Border Collie in both NACSW and AKC scentwork.
Because of her enthusiasm for the sport of Nosework, Ellen attended NACSW Instructor training in California in 2018 and earned her Associate Nosework Instructor (ANWI) certificate, and is working toward becoming a Certified Instructor (CNWI).
Any person and any dog can participate in Nosework. The beauty of the sport is that it allows dogs to do what comes naturally . . . hunt. There are many methods and philosophies on the most efficient ways to teach and train dogs in Nosework, but Ellen believes the most important element is what is most fun and rewarding for the dogs.
