Lynne Luckow has the unusual skill of being able to move between teaching dogs and people seamlessly. Her communication with both species is clear, concise, and objective while her reinforcement of both is always quick and very positive. In working with her, I found that she has the uncanny knack to be able to immediately discern what her clients need and then quickly go to work helping them achieve their goals. Lynne’s a problem solver.
My Dalmatian, Hartley, and I worked with Lynne to help instill a work ethic, any sort of work ethic, in him. Hartley sometimes (okay, often!) had trouble focusing on what I cued him to do, especially as we were preparing for competition obedience trials, and instead would wander off to do his “own thing.” Lynne observed this behavior and immediately was able to offer many suggestions to improve our working relationship. By our next lesson, Hartley had improved tremendously and is now earning qualifying scores at trials!
In every lesson we’ve had with Lynne, I’ve always found her to be extremely generous with her time, skills, and knowledge. She's a great teacher and Hartley and I continue to learn from her today.
Loretta and "Hartley" (2/2012)
I've worked with Lynne in agility for almost a year, having some experience at a local AKC club. After seeing the detail for the course and handling that Lynne provided at an agility to run-thru, I realized I was missing out an great opportunity to really develop out mine and my dogs' skills.
I have two very different dogs in Lynne's classes; one is very sensitive and one is deaf. Lynne has been able to tailor our training both in group classes and in private sessions to cater to both dogs, and help me adjust my handling style accordingly. My deaf dog has progressed incredibly far within less than a year, having no previous exposure to agility with a lot of potential for competition in the future. My sensitive dog at one point wouldn't even take a jump after I accidentally stepped on her foot, and Lynne encouraged me to stick with it. She gave me the appropriate R+ tools to work with my girl's unique personality and used small progressive steps to rebuild my dog's confidence. After a couple of months, my sensitive dog will now run multiple courses in a single group class!
Lynne is great at making sure she's meeting your and your dog's needs, and the OneMind Dogs handling system is exactly what I need for my deafie. Whenever we've had a challenge in training due to deafness, Lynne takes the time to consider possible solutions and helps us work through it effectively. Agility has really reinforced the connection between me and my dogs, and it's one of our favorite activities!
