Handling Techniques

Handling techniques are essential to create clear channel of communication between you and your dog on the course.

OneMind Dogs Handling Techniques Training with OMD Instructor D Lynne Luckow

You are your dog’s guide on the agility course. Dogs are innately in tune with our body movements and positions on the course and how we combine our body movements tells the dog which obstacles they should take and how they should take them.

Learning the OneMind Dogs Handling System gives you a solid understanding of what your physical cues are and how your dog naturally responds to them, and what training your dog needs in order to confidently work their way through the agility course.

The handling techniques program at Redline spans an entire year. Students will learn every OneMind Dogs handling technique and the common combinations of techniques. The format of this program is built to maximize learning and success for students.

Each technique will take two weeks to complete:

The first week, teams will be working in the skills room on handler fluency of the movement and teaching the dog the necessary skills in order to follow the handler’s movements.

Students will have the opportunity to practice their skills at home, with the supplemental learning materials found on the OneMind Dogs website, with special pricing graced to Redline Students.

The following week, teams will be working on the turf applying the newly learned techniques to longer sequences, continuing to learn about how they’re best used on course and mastering your timing and connection.

This program is broken into 4 class segments overall. Each class is 8 weeks.

With over 30 OneMind Dogs handling techniques, you're able to create a diverse and effective toolkit for your agility runs. Our RCTC Handling Techniques classes will help you develop an understanding of how dogs respond to our physical cues and how to use those cues more effectively on an agility course. From novice to advanced, you'll learn how to make the right choices on the course, at the right time and in the right position to help your dog reach full potential!
